The Family Resource Centre National Forum is a support network working with Family Resource Centres throughout Ireland. The aim of the Forum is to represent the views of all Family Resource Centres nationally and provide practical support to Family Resource Centres involved in family support and social inclusion initiatives.

In using the term ‘family support’ the Forum is referring to a set of beliefs and an approach to strengthening and empowering families and communities so that they can foster the development of children, youth and family members.

Welcome to The Bungalow

The Bungalow was established in 1990 to meet the needs of local families. It had humble beginnings from being a two-roomed building to becoming what it is now "A focal point in the Cherry Orchard area".

It continues to be a first step initiative committed to reaching people in the locallity who are most in need of support, including those who for a variety of reasons were denied educational opportunities.

Each person who comes here is welcome and given space to find her/his level of confidence before being introduced to a normal programme.

In this enviornment values of self-esteem and appreciation are nurtured, thus enabling each person to freely participate in a range of activities both educational and developmental.

The child minding service provides a welcome respite to mothers of toddlers who wish to pursue a programme of their choice.

Mission Statement

The Bunglow is a place where everyone is accepted for who they are rather than what they are - where everyone is made to feel special. We offer you the opportunity to take the first step in meeting people and in learning new skills together.

Aims

  • To continue as a first step initiative in promoting a broad based education for local women.
  • To enable people to aquire skills to equip them with daily life.
  • To build up a sense of community

Feeling lonely? like to meet new people? Learn a new craft? Like a chat and cuppa?

If the answer to any of the above questions is yes...... why not come along to The Bungalow where you will find a warm welcome and perhaps a new lease of life. Check out our acivities page.
